The general insufficiency in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in a sense considerably puzzling, in one way or another.
In past times, the country was a site where a lot of South Africans would visit to flee from the considerably confining rules on wagering (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Therefore, you are likely to expect a concept of a thriving location to cater to that tourist sector.
At the same time, maybe it isn’t all that much of a surprise. The area is one of the most bankrupt over the world, having gone through a gruesome civil war (followed by catastrophic floods) from which it is still, very slowly, getting back on its feet. This could make a spot much less of a tourist location, despite the fact that there is now a favorable view along a few of the city’s breathtaking beaches.
It is too valid that regionally at least, casinos in Mozambique have had to partake with others in the lately liberalized South Africa, which includes the well-known Sun City founded by the Kerzner family organization.
Here’s a list of Casinos in Mozambique:
Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel
There are seventy-eight slot machines as well as video poker games, 5 tables of American roulette, 4 blackjack tables, and a poker table.
Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino
There are forty slot machines, American roulette, and 2 tables for poker and also punto banco.
It is thought that over time the total tourism business in Mozambique will flourish adequately. While the local languages are, obviously, African, there is in addition the remnant of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the current and escalating inception of English, both from South Africa and as part of the global phenomenon. The country is very cheap (clearly, as it is very poor) and as above, has some of the most stunning beaches in the world, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the kinds of elements that make tourism agents drool, and as the country advances out of its existent slump, it’s likely that not only will tourism boost, but that the list of casinos in Mozambique will grow longer for sure.
While the country is unlikely to ever restore its notoriety as a destination for partying South Africans, as there are now other picks closer to home for them to oblige in, the development of a long distance tourism sector is being set-up. This would be to serve Europeans hopeful for winter sun, as a release from the bleakness of the Northern Hemisphere winter. And, clearly, the greatest prawns (shrimp) worldwide are just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
